No of positions available: 3 Project Description and Scope The Career Centre is seeking students that are interested in emplementing the initial set-up of a peer coaching program based on previous research and recommendations that will launch September 2021 for the BIE program. Surveying Pilot, Updates, and Recommendations

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Long Term Growth Plan - External
No of positions available: 3 ( 1 team with 3 students) Project Description and Scope The Career Centre is seeking students that are interested in helping to conceptualize and develop a series of long-term strategies to help systemically integrate inclusion into our operations and services. Students will have the opportunity to: · Analyze the current state of affairs of DEI initiatives at UBC · Create an initial long-term growth strategy report that suggests methods to integrate DEI principles into the VSE Career Centre, and ultimately involve other faculties to encourage integration into both the BIE as well as UBC curriculum · Interview and survey domestic and international BIE students to gain insights and a clear perspective on the issues students face in their daily life · Liaise and work with other DEI student-run organizations at the university, as well as with other faculties, staff, and professors to gain a better understanding of their perspective on DEI · Write a final DEI report that includes recommendations on the steps to take moving forward in the path to make DEI principles an integral part of UBC’s university culture We’re looking for someone like you if: · You are passionate about researching, understanding, and promoting DEI · You are excited about engaging with other community members who are also passionate about DEI · You have a pioneering and entrepreneurial spirit, and enjoy initiating new projects · You are a strategic thinker with the ability to formulate and develop a bigger picture perspective · You have the ability to initiate and build strong relationships with all diverse stakeholders · You are sensitive to the current social and political environment surrounding DEI Qualifications: · Excellent written communication skills in writing reports · Ability to research, survey, and consolidate and analyze data · Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel to analyze and present findings · Self-motivated and driven with project management experience · Strong interpersonal skills and business acumen · Previous experience working with diversity, equity, and inclusion preferred Student will receive: - Weekly oversight through prescheduled meetings - Constant feedback on operations - Recommendations and potential to return for other projects after completion

Positions available: 3 ( 1 team with 3 students) Project Description and Scope: Introduction The Career Centre is seeking students that are interested in helping to conceptualize and develop resources and events that will help the VSE Career Centre systemically integrate inclusion into our operations and services. Students would have the opportunity to · Conduct Diversity, Inclusion and Equity (DEI) research, plan events, work with diverse stakeholders, and write recommendation reports to make inclusion more intentional and apparent at UBC, starting with the BIE program and potentially the rest of VSE · Work with other students in the program to plan and deliver an event for the BIE Class of 2024 with two primary goals in mind: obtaining maximum attendance for students to be able to interact outside of an academic context; unpack the theme “Moving Beyond Cultural Boundaries” with the help of speaker(s) who can talk about diversity and inclusion · Aid in continuing research for multiple events for Fall 2021, where students have the chance to unpack issues of inclusivity such as: ageism, LGBTQIA+ rights, mental and physical disabilities, racism, sexism, Truth and Reconciliation, and other forms of discrimination in the workplace and in today’s world · Provide recommendations for our plan moving forward We’re looking for someone like you if: · You are passionate about promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion · You are a strategic thinker with an ability to reinvent and develop new opportunities · You are ambitious and excited to explore DEI · You like working collaboratively with team members and stakeholders · You are sensitive to the current social and political environment surrounding DEI Qualifications: · Self-motivated and driven to lead an impactful event · Able to work with attention to detail and highly organized · Event planning and management experience · Excellent oral communication and presentation skills · Previous experience working with inclusivity, equity, and diversity preferred · Adaptable and flexible with excellent interpersonal skills to work with a diverse population of students, colleagues, and outside stakeholders · Able to provide clear and precise next step recommendations as part of a final report Student will receive: - Weekly oversight through prescheduled meetings - Constant feedback on operations - Recommendations and potential to return for other projects after completion
