Project Description and Scope

The Career Centre is seeking students that are interested in further developing our Excel resources including new research and the existing self-directed ten module online Basic Excel course and creating an outline for an Intermediate Excel course in Canvas, as part of the Perspectives Program (a self-directed online career development program), that supports BIE students with developing their Excel knowledge and skills.

Students will have the opportunity to:

· Research other free Excel resources available to BIE students and integrate findings into the Perspectives Program

· Analyse the existing BIE Beginner Excel Canvas Course to identify areas for improvement and provide updated and new content

· Edit current written content and create new videos that include directions for users of both Windows and iOS systems

· Develop the learning objectives and outline for an Intermediate Excel course

· Request a Canvas course to be set up via Arts IT in preparation for the Intermediate course development

We’re looking for someone like you if:

· You have a passion for technical work, solving issues using technology, and web-based development projects

· You have the ability to be flexible and adaptable in a dynamic environment

· You have the ability to design and create videos

· You have an affinity or interest in team and project-based work and able to work independently

· You have excellent organizational and time management skills

· You have effective oral and written communication skills

· You have basic office administrative skills and the ability to operate standard office equipment

Qualifications:

· Intermediate-level Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

· Experience using Canvas or creating content on Canvas preferred

· Resourceful and able to conduct research to map existing free Excel resources

· Creative design, video editing, and/or course development experience preferred

· Ability to deal with a diversity of internal and external stakeholders utilizing business acumen

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills in all forms (email, phone, in-person)

· Able to deal with information in a confidential manner and respond with sensitivity

· Equally at ease working independently and in a team environment

· Must be able to work 10 hours per week for 8 weeks

Student will receive:

- Weekly oversight through prescheduled meetings

- Constant feedback on operations

- Recommendations and potential to return for other projects after completion
