Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Strategy and Events
Positions available: 3 ( 1 team with 3 students) Project Description and Scope: Introduction The Career Centre is seeking students that are interested in helping to conceptualize and develop resources and events that will help the VSE Career Centre systemically integrate inclusion into our operations and services. Students would have the opportunity to · Conduct Diversity, Inclusion and Equity (DEI) research, plan events, work with diverse stakeholders, and write recommendation reports to make inclusion more intentional and apparent at UBC, starting with the BIE program and potentially the rest of VSE · Work with other students in the program to plan and deliver an event for the BIE Class of 2024 with two primary goals in mind: obtaining maximum attendance for students to be able to interact outside of an academic context; unpack the theme “Moving Beyond Cultural Boundaries” with the help of speaker(s) who can talk about diversity and inclusion · Aid in continuing research for multiple events for Fall 2021, where students have the chance to unpack issues of inclusivity such as: ageism, LGBTQIA+ rights, mental and physical disabilities, racism, sexism, Truth and Reconciliation, and other forms of discrimination in the workplace and in today’s world · Provide recommendations for our plan moving forward We’re looking for someone like you if: · You are passionate about promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion · You are a strategic thinker with an ability to reinvent and develop new opportunities · You are ambitious and excited to explore DEI · You like working collaboratively with team members and stakeholders · You are sensitive to the current social and political environment surrounding DEI Qualifications: · Self-motivated and driven to lead an impactful event · Able to work with attention to detail and highly organized · Event planning and management experience · Excellent oral communication and presentation skills · Previous experience working with inclusivity, equity, and diversity preferred · Adaptable and flexible with excellent interpersonal skills to work with a diverse population of students, colleagues, and outside stakeholders · Able to provide clear and precise next step recommendations as part of a final report Student will receive: - Weekly oversight through prescheduled meetings - Constant feedback on operations - Recommendations and potential to return for other projects after completion
LinkedIn Strategy and Content
Positions Available: 2 Introduction The VSE Career Centre is seeking students that are interested in developing and implementing digital content strategies that will help the VSE Career Centre facilitate connections between BIE students and alumni, employers, and other partners via LinkedIn. Students would have the opportunity to Create and implement a digital strategy for the VSE Career Centre’s use of the LinkedIn company page platform, with the intent to engage with employers and partners to connect them with BIE students and alumni. Build a LinkedIn company page from start to finish as well as furnish it with written and visual content Maintain the VSE Career Centre’s LinkedIn group page for BIE students and alumni by creating and/or curating relevant content, articles and visuals Be involved in the furthering of a professional online presence Offer insight into future digital needs of the VSE Career Centre We’re looking for someone like you if: You are passionate about digital strategy and brand representation You are a critical thinker with an ability to analyze and design long-term media strategy You are attuned to the needs of different audiences and can tailor content accordingly You like working in a team environment and are receptive to feedback You are sensitive to the differences between personal and professional media presence Qualifications: Excellent writing and communications skills, particularly the ability to write clearly and professionally Intermediate knowledge of LinkedIn preferred Able to create content that is brand-consistent on a regular basis Excellent time-management and organizational skills Student will receive: Weekly oversight through prescheduled meetings Constant feedback on operations Recommendations and potential to return for other projects after completion

Positions available: 2 Project Description and Scope: Introduction The VSE Career Centre is seeking students that are interested in assisting in the development of new features for the Career Centre website as well as vetting current VSE Career Centre content on UBC pages online. Students would have the opportunity to Develop a virtual gallery-style feature that will compile BIE student information and present it in a format that is attractive and informative for potential employers Interact with and contribute to the testing and development of a professional website Assess and identify potential areas on UBC pages that may be outdated, require new links, or otherwise require attention AND implement changes to remedy these issues Offer insight to improve functionality, appearance, and content of the VSE Career Centre’s online presence We’re looking for someone like you if: You are interested in web design and infrastructure You are a critical thinker that is able to analyze and assess a situation for potential issues You are excited by the creation and implementation of web features You like problem solving and working collaboratively Qualifications: Strong attention to detail General knowledge of a coding language preferred Excellent proofreading and communication skills Able to write clearly and professionally Student will receive: Weekly oversight through prescheduled meetings Constant feedback on operations Recommendations and potential to return for other projects after completion
Onboarding and Operations Manual Standardization
Positions available : 2 Project Description and Scope: Introduction The VSE Career Centre is seeking students that are interested in helping to update and further develop a standardized operations manual for onboarding new team members that encompasses all portfolios within the VSE Career Centre and will provide ongoing resources for those working for the VSE Career Centre. Students would have the opportunity to Reimagine the overall layout of the Operations Manual while maintaining the integrity of the information and updating appropriately Consult team members to understand onboarding and work procedures specific to the VSE Career Centre Write content designed for new volunteers and members containing instructions for the necessary courses, documents, and supplements required for integration into the VSE Career Centre Assemble a completed module or “toolkit” that encompasses all the resources needed to be a successful member of the VSE Career Centre team We’re looking for someone like you if: You enjoy developing frameworks to standardize the presentation of information You like working with page layout design You can balance the visually appealing aspects of a project with functionality and accessibility You are focused and consistent in your work Qualifications: Excellent writing skills, particularly the ability to write concisely and effectively, as in step-by-step tutorials Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills Able to compile information and organize it in a logical and meaningful way Intermediate knowledge of principles of design and some experience with the Adobe Creative Suite for document layout and creation preferred Able to understand and create brand-consistent materials that are stylistically aligned with the VSE Career Centre’s image Student will receive: Weekly oversight through prescheduled meetings Constant feedback on operations Recommendations and potential to return for other projects after completion
