Helloart is an organization that connects artists with local businesses to exhibit and sell their artwork. In this position I am current reviewing websites and artworks of artists based in Toronto/Waterloo who are of interest to helloart. I also message and follow up with artists on Instagram to ask if they would be interested in joining helloart.

After creating an "artist file overview" template for each artist file in the AGA's collection with Curatorial Assistant, Sara Cuthbertson, I started reading through each artist file to record what information was present or absent in the folders. These include the deed of gift, provenance, loan and exhibition history, artist biographies, etc.

While working remotely, I edited and added to the gallery's artist biographies through revision and research. After the bios were reviewed by my supervisors, they were uploaded to the AGA's "Art & Discovery" page on their website as a resource for students, teachers and any visitor who is interested in learning more about the modern and contemporary artists represented by the gallery. In total, I have developed 55 artist biographies for the AGA's permanent collection and Art & Discovery Project.

• Assisting the staff with installation of "CodeX: Disruptive and Futuristic eArt" exhibition
• Note-taking during Curator's Tour and group discussions with artists served as an educational tool for Student Monitors
• Researching environmental artists and designers for Onsite's upcoming exhibition
• Drafting an email for the staff to send to journalists to promote CodeX exhibition
• Learning from the Curator, Lisa Smith about exhibition and event planning
• Greeted visitors, tracked attendance, and answered phone calls at the front desk

In this role, I assisted students with their general financial inquiries at the front desk or directed them to Financial advisers or other departments by telephone or messaging in a speedily manner. I accurately alphabetized, filed, and created new folders to archive students’ supporting documentation in order to maintain efficiency and organization within our department. I have created Instagram tiles through Illustrator to update the Financial Aid & Awards social media pages and remind students of upcoming deadlines. I also researched new art from OCAD U students for the FAA to use as promotion for their Instagram tiles.

How do we find serenity in times of distress?

A Breath of Fresh Air is a group show that features three artists in Sault Ste. Marie who have reconnected back to themselves and nature during the pandemic.

Samantha Pine-Bennett, Desiree Watson, and Shannon McLeod incorporate natural elements from the land into their art as a way to find healing, connection, and hope.
