Today’s managers need data to make effective decisions. However, in order to do that they need to understand what the numbers mean. Our students know how to extract meaningful information from data using statistical tools such as probability distributions, inference, correlation, and regression. Our students seek to employ statistical models and methods to prepare and present number-driven business decisions to your company. Building on what they have learned in earlier term as well, students will leverage their sophisticated understanding of what statistics can (and cannot) do to help your business.

Do you have a healthcare-related problem that you wish you could get at if you had just a little more time? Multidisciplinary teams of engineering and science (human biology, neuroscience, molecular genetics, etc.) students will work to address an engineering design problem that your organization is facing. The team will participate in the capstone design course with guidance from a faculty member and teaching team with expertise in biomedical engineering and medical device design. By the end of the course the team will present test results to you to demonstrate a feasible solution to your problem.

This course aims to have students conduct marketing analytics driven by big data, using applications from real world business problems. Recent advances in computer technology have led to an explosion in the amount of data available for companies to use for market research. In order to be effective as a marketing manager today, it is necessary to understand how to apply cutting edge statistical models to large databases, such as scanner data, loyalty program data, or internet marketing data, and to be able to obtain managerial insights from model results.

Groups of students from UofT are keen on getting hands on experience in the Biotech industry. These Genetics stream students are well versed with all the latest tools of gene and genome editing and some double major in Statistics or Neuroscience . There is no strict limit on the group size, it could also be individual students if that works better. In addition, it could be a summer project that involves more hours.

Rotman Commerce International Business Association - Expanding Horizons Case Competition
Rotman Commerce students will be given the unique opportunity to exercise their critical thinking and contingency planning skills whilst integrating a cultural diversity and international expansion aspect into their case. Prior to the event, a training session will be held to educate students on the topic of international expansion. On the day of the case competition, we plan to twist the case with the introduction of an ‘emergency scenario’. We look to hold the case competition in Feb/March.
