Learners: college juniors and seniors at a nationally recognized four year residential liberal arts college located in the Midwest Characteristics: curious, creative, and motivated to apply their skills to interesting and meaningful projects Majors: Business Administration (Marketing), Public Relations, Communications Skills: Adobe Creative Suite; Canva; web design (WordPress, Wix, others); video editing; digital content creation for social media platforms; marketing strategy; advertising campaigns and schedules; survey construction and market research; and marketing plan creation.

This experience is designed for learners enrolled in a Small Group Communication course, where they are eager to refine their team communication skills. Participants are equipped to work collaboratively, applying their knowledge to real-world projects that require effective information gathering and organization. The learning objectives focus on enhancing communication strategies, fostering teamwork, and delivering tangible outcomes that benefit project partners. By engaging in these projects, learners can bridge the gap between theoretical understanding and practical application in a professional setting.

This experience focuses on equipping learners with the skills to create impactful public-facing messages that emphasize the importance of effective communication within families during challenging health transitions, such as post-partum depression, breast and/or prostate cancer, invisible disability, infertility, Alzheimer's disease, and end of life transition. Learners will apply their understanding of communication strategies to develop materials that can educate and support families in maintaining strong connections and resilience. By leveraging empirical research, learners will craft messages that highlight the effects of challenging health transitions on family dynamics and offer practical communication techniques to enhance well-being.
